Principles

Six commitments behind how Makoon is built.

They describe design intent for a product in development, not features you can use today. The engineering underneath is deliberate. The language here is for the people who will run their business on it.

  1. Consistent by design

    Important business actions obey the same rules regardless of where they originate. Whether an order is created on a screen, imported from a file or raised by someone acting on a colleague's behalf, the same checks apply and the same result is recorded. There is no side door that behaves differently.

  2. A history you can trust

    For the actions that matter, Makoon is designed to keep what was requested, what was decided, what took effect and why, recorded at the moment it happens, and to say plainly what is blocking a piece of work and what can happen next. Audit is not an add-on. It is how the system works.

  3. Control built into the work

    Approvals, responsibilities, delegation and separation of duties are rules the company sets. The system is being built to apply them inside the business process itself, on every relevant action, not only on the ones someone remembered to protect.

  4. Simple by default, powerful when needed

    A growing operation should not have to carry sophisticated controls before it needs them, and it should not have to change systems when it does. Capability appears as the business, the responsibility and the process require it. Simpler screens never mean weaker controls: the fast path is governed by the same business rules as the deepest one.

  5. Your business, isolated by design

    Makoon is being designed so that the boundary around each customer's business is enforced throughout the platform, rather than depending on a screen filter or an application convention.

  6. Adapt without creating a second ERP

    Configuration, workflows and extensions are being designed to evolve safely, with changes that can be tested, published and rolled back, so that a customer's installation never becomes an unmaintainable fork and upgrades are not something to fear.
